You might be thinking you'll have to pay more for a contractor to come out for an emergency, but the long term costs to repair the water damage will be very high.

If permanent emergency roof repair work cannot be done a tarp will be installed over the problem area instead which your insurance company will cover and you will be responsible only for paying the insurance deductible.
