Why do my roof shingles keep blowing off?

by Steven Briesemeister - 1 Comments

My shingles are blowing off.

There can be a lot of reasons why your shingles are not staying on the roof when the wind blows. Did the roofer that installed them use enough nails? Did he put the nails too close to the edge of the shingles? Did he install them on a windy day so dust and dirt coated the adhesive strip and made it useless?

If the nails are placed above the tar strip, it will not make contact with the lower row of shingles and it will allow the high winds to "take it and go".
