The old copper shingles are melted down and re-used to make new shingles or other copper materials. It is an added benefit to installing a copper roof and one that guarantees that the value of the home will survive. Copper roofs are definitely more costly than packs of shingles, but their superior protection and life span compensate for the price difference. If you are planning to remain in your home for the rest of your lifetime, and your house can handle the look of copper shingles, installing them is a great choice. It may be the last roof replacement that you will ever need to do. Choose a contractor who has installed copper shingles before and get references to ensure that you get the best results. For the cost of the copper shingle installation, you want to make sure that the job is done right.
